About The Astrojets
The Astrojets are formed from the magma of the pre-hysteric age of popular music.
The Astrojets are formed of experienced musicians who share a love of the sound of Southern Blues and Soul. They respectively cast aside rock, ska, indie and even Opera to perform in the Astrojets and attempt to re-create a sound authentically reminiscent of 50s and 60s Texas and Louisiana.
Founded by Frank Cooke, guitarist (and manufacturer/repairer of valve amps from his workshop in Denmark St.), the rest of the band comprises of Dave Page, all-round musical prodigy who settles for bass guitar with the Astrojets, Joe Ospalla, drummer extraordinaire and Tony Battrick, a true tenor singer (and occasional harp player).
The Astrojets are kitted out in retro American clothing and use top quality vintage gear; they are dedicated to producing an authentic sounding, exciting and energetic set.
The Astrojets are not your usual Chicago-influenced Blues outfit or ‘Commitments’ style soul band. They offer music of great variety, energy, beauty and, for most audiences inside and outside the blues\soul scene, originality.
